I'm almost 100% sure mine is Syncros. I have had my hand on the shifter as it pops out & you can feel the grind. Very unpleasant.
I will let you know what it Is and what price it ends up being for repair. Dougs got mine at the moment. But it's probably the fork. I was told to avoid driving mine.

Ahar! Success. Doug is a legend!
It was the bolt holding the 5th/reverse rail that loosened causing the gears to slide back. Common problem. So I didn't destroy this one

Yeah, I forgot to mention that. It appears to have Early GD front shafts and they have slightly rubbed on the bottom of the coilovers. There's a bit of grease around the boot but nothing too urgent.

There's a nut that holds 5th gear hub onto the shaft, there is a bearing in the reverse brake around the nut. When the bearing siezes, the nut comes undone and 5th slides back and starts to chew the case out. The oil in this looked like silver paint and the whole hub/synchro/reverse brake was worn. Good as new now, and stop bagging him out about breaking gearboxes. We've all done it. The first one was a PAR (P.O.S.) dog box that regularly have shift issues, the second one was a unknown box from some dodgy wrecker who didn't come good with any kind of goodwill.

The workshop has hit another snag, landlord said no, even after the agent said no problem. It's the second one we've had to walk away from. The other one was good to go but the shire knocked it back due to being in a commercial zoning not industrial.

Pretty hard to find workshop these days that allows u to do mechanical or body work on cars. Most landlords thinks there will be heaps of scraps and shit laying around once you let one of those above trade into their units. We were thinking about moving to a bigger place...but some prices are just ridiculous.

Yeah, it was with reference to your post, but mainly in an attempt to stem the onslaught of ridicule he got in the other thread about not being able to drive etc.
