I strongly recommend staying away from plated front diffs in a car that is regularly driven on the street. The gear oil that runs in the gearbox generally wont make for a nice quiet front LSD when making slow tight turns. It'll click, clack and clunk and generally drive you nuts when making turns and maneuvering in a car park.

Ive got a cusco plated 1.5 way rear diff so i know its very noisy when slow turning etc.. That dosent worry me.

The question will a cusco 1.5way diff be better in helping pull the car out of corners over the standard diff??

Or is it a worthwhile expenditure over other things like rear sway bars, roll centre, trailing arms and lateral links??

Are you using the proper Cusco oil to go with it?

When i used some off the shelf Castrol oil it made an all mighty clang clang or tonk tonk, as soon as i swapped it out for the Cusco equivalent it went away (figure that shit out!).

In my case with the 5 speed wrx of fail a 1 way made a difference.

front diffs require commitment when driving hard.

If you pussy foot around it will handle worse ie push understeer. Get some seat time and run as fast as you can without it and get on the gas early - then consider a plated front diff.

Ok thats the info i wanted.. so if not pushed hard the 1.5 way will handle worse...

Im also wondering if going in a straight line and the back pops out with the rear plated will the front plated help it stay straight in line??

It might be me getting old.. but the Cusco oil made a vast improvement in its operation.

I think i still have a few tins of the stuff in the garage somewhere.. which reminds me i need to drop the oil in the diff and put in some fresh stuff back in.

Wei from Vision R usually has it in stock..

yeah rcomps make a huge difference too. In reality, you have hardly driven the car. the diff thats in there now will be good enough, tis the same one i use and the same as doug's green machine. just drive it some more instead of constantly finding excuses to waste your money and keep it on a hoist.

I run a 1.5 in the front and a 2 way in the rear. The 1.5 way is a prick of a thing to move around the garage or park up at events.

What I find at speed though is the car drives like a front driver. It is fast and made a massive difference over the diff of fail that was the standard one but it is no where near as tail happy and as much fun as it used to be. Basically you just point it where you want to go and keep your foot in it.
