Anyway back on topic, I have had a few Subies in my time, this included a Spec C with a built 2.5 - Loved this car for the simple fact it had torque and heaps of it, if you are a city driver the 2.5 is the way to go.

If you want something that rev's freely then go the 2 litre.

cheers

Brendon.
this is what most of the tuning companies claim
jun, hks & tomei as examples

a 207 with a 257 crank is NOT 2.2 litres as many claim.

it is merely 2.10064.

it is still a worthwhile build, I am planning on doing one myself.

the increase in torque is well worth it.

I think the big tuning companies call them 2.2's because it sounds better and is more marketable when charging $7-10k (components only) for only 100cc capacity increase.

There have been a few that have gone bang (well rattle) in the last 12 months - batch error I believe. The 207 is still the best bang for buck bottom end.

Ludwig's option is the way to go if you want to spend some money!

I had a 207 die on me, first time it copped full boost on the dyno after run-in. Suspected factory error but the way the failure was means we couldn't prove or disprove it 100%, so I just had to suck it up and start again.

Mmmm sounds like ground hog day. My 207 failed after not even 8,000kms from the crate.

If you are not going to modify it any further, and not push it too far, i would go with a 257. 500cc, have been seen to make over 250kw atw over east easily and doesnt complain. Jam a average sized huffer on it and watch the lag dissappear. When you start punching 300-400kw id just bite the bullet and go JUN/Cosworth.

Im a big fan of the ej257 ( i have a 255)
with some very simple mods my car pulls 223kw at the wheels, and has 414 nm of torque. makes it a very fun street car if your that way inclined.

i have a gtps02 turbo that is making full boost by 3500rpm so spool isnt a big issue with a 2.5 either
