Modena Engineering
Any of you kids dealt with Modena Engineering?
Either old mate does not have a wonderful grasp of the english language or thinks I know nothing. Basically told him I need a new centre diff and he says: Yes our diffs are very fast but will not fit standard gearbox. We have diffs for the front, centre & rear approx 5 seconds per km faster than any diff on the market as used by our crash test dummy Simon evans Reasonable call, but probably a little inaccurate given I already told him I play on tarmac. 5 secs a k would put us well ahead of Mr Jones in his GTR. A bunky GC8 smoking a new GTR. Some questions would be asked. Anyways I sent an email back to him so see what he comes up with. Has anyone fitted the centre diff? Does it need much mods? Brendon

Brendon speak to cowboy on Rexnet he was running a modena sequential gearbox and all there diffs. He got rid of the sequencial cos he kept on breaking it and modena wouldnt warranty it.. but hell be able to tell you about there diffs and if they were any good.
Alot of people use cusco (front and rear) and i know cowboy loves them.. Paul03STI has a centre 65:35 diff if thats something u were wanting to do??

Morgan M has done all the research (as he always does) and reckoned that was the one to go for. Just thought I would do some of my own research before I made a decision. Otherwise the cusco seems the way forward. I am not totally up to speed with how they work but Morgan was saying that some are lsd and some are not. i.e. you get out of shape and the thing just wants to keep sending power to rear rather than lock up and send something to the front. I know when I blew up my last dccd all it wanted to do was bake the front wheels. Rear wheels did nothing. Brendon

I love the 5 seconds per km.
So install the diff, turn a 60 sec short track time into a 51.8 and annoy Jones! On topic, is this a 65:35 center like the cusco or something else?

Yeah it is but supposedly it is an lsd as opposed to open. Would be fail on the road with no commitment but that is not so much a problem for my car.

The figures he is quoting is for gravel and no doubt on a 20gk type of diff!
The big difference with the modena as opposed to the STI 20kg is that the modena breaks away when the handbreak is applied and the sti one just jams up and try's to lock all 4 wheels! Great bit of kit (for gravel) |

5 seconds a km is huge. The test stage must have been 500 metres long and had 9 hairpins in it to make that much difference!

Agree 100%, although it could be 5 seconds over an open centre diff!
