Default car not starting :(

went to start my car tonight to roll it down the ramps at first it started ticking then it wouldnt do anything you'd just hear a click and then nothing... its a new battery and the volt gauge is reading just above 11volts without the stereo on and on 11 with it on.. could it be alternator or starter motor? it was started 2 days ago fine, it seems to happen mainly in cold weather...

if the car hasnt been driven in a while or only been driven on short trips, the alternator isnt given enough time to charge the battery and it will slowly drain. this is especially true when running amplifiers etc.

Do you have much mechanical knowledge?
If so maybe check the charge rate on the battery with car running and car running + HiBeams on .. Then report back?

Also could be Starter gear not throwing out to engage properly but im just throwing ideas around now!

I bought a new battery for a car which doesn't get much use and two days later it was flat. Charged it for about 8 hours, three days later it was flat again. Charged it for three days (until the light went out on the charger) and it's been fine for months after that.

With the Rex the central locking makes a sound like a dying duck when the battery is dead. I know I'm in trouble before I even get in.
