Default 6 Speed Conversion

Hey guys just want to know what is involved in doing a 6 speed conversion on a V5 Sti i have a 5 speed 4.444 ratio box apparently a jap spec driveline in the car at the moment. Just want to know what needs to be done to get the 6 speed bolted in, what other parts i need etc and if they're compulsory. Will be a NON DCCD gearbox

Thanks in advance.

you need:

6 speed box
6 speed shifter linkages
6 speed gear knob
6 speed tranny mount
6 speed clutch fork
Early GDB STi tailshaft or automatic AWD GC tailshaft
Matching ratio rear diff (3.9 ratio and preferably with a plated LSD)
Driveshafts to suit the above rear diff
4.7L of oil for gearbox
900ml of oil for diff

Either Doug or myself can supply most of these.

Doug can install. He's probably the most experienced 6 speed conversion mechanic in Australia

If you do it with a basic VLSD rear diff you could do it all for around $5K drive in drive out.

add another $500 if you do it properly with a plated rear LSD

Would that be including the 6 speed clutch?

Usually not. You can re-use your old 5 speed clutch. bolts right in and is fully compatible with a 6 speed gearbox.

Would a ppg gearbox bolt straight on without changing anything else?
