Default Engine still warm even after being off for upto over an hour?

Hey guys, just wondering if this is normal?

Sometimes I leave my car turned off for close to about an hour, maybe even 2, and when I turn it back on, it's still got a warm engine (The temperature gauge is about 1/4 of the way up the entire thing)

But when I drive, my temperature gauge doesnt go higher then the 2 centre lines, it barely gets over the first centre line.

Is this normal?

How long do you think it should take for a 100Kg block of aluminum to shed heat starting at 95C under the bonnet of a car?

The dash gauge is hardly accurate for telling actual temperature of the coolant. Should take about 5 mins of driving for the temp needle to get halfway up. That is the normal operating temp range.

That's the spirit

My temp dash gauge always stays in the middle regardless

It did go into meltdown once when I blew a radiator hose, now it doesn't move <== to be continued

Mate of mine cut open a glow stick and poured the contents over his old feller once at a camping trip. Pretty much had the same effect!
