Me, John, Ross, Wayne... how many more times do you want to hear it... 207 std short block. Everything else off yours. Throw in 2 bar. Done deal - happy days.

Brent.

[edit] pros: cost effective. 207's love boost. ease of replacement.
cons: none in your example.

Thanks for the advice guys, seems like the 207 is the only way to go. I got rough estimated quote for the rebuild of my 257 minimum 7K mark with forged pistons but seems like I'll scrap that.

Can someone point me in the right direction as to where to go to pick up a 207 and getting everything put together and retuned

It will most likely be a cracked ringland rather than a ring...

7K for a 257 rebuild with forged is near the mark (depending on whether you do rods, studs and bearings as well...then budget a bit more).

207 is a good option, but beware of bearings...they can be hit and miss...MMS are recommending upgraded bearings on new 207's.
