The manual probably will not show you how to change the up pipe as a simple process. Usually it will show how to remove the engine complete as a process and then how to dismantle the engine.
I'd do it something like this...... -Drain the coolant from the cock at the lower driver's side tank. -Remove the intercooler and the mounting bracket on the driver's side. -Remove the turbo heat shield (if fitted) -Remove the dump pipe. -Unplug the oxygen sensor on the DS strut tower and remove it from the DS exhause manifold. -Remove the heat shield from the DS exhaust manifold. -Remove the 3 nuts holding the turbo to the up pipe. -Remove the 2 nuts holding the up pipe to the support bracket. -Remove the outer turbo support bracket and the oil feed pipe. (don't lose the washers) -Remove the 2 coolant hoses from the turbo -Loosen the clamp on the turbo inlet hose. -Lift the turbo upward and rearward to remove. -Remove the single bolt still holding the turbo support bracket to the engine and remove the bracket. -Remove the 2 bolts holding the up pipe to the DS exhaust manifold and carefully lift it out the top. (use care not to push the rubber halfmoon seal into the back of the cylinder head) -Inspect the turbo for bits of broken catalyst. -Use care when refitting the turbo to correctly locate the drainback hose and the inlet hose. Often one or other gets folded over and no one notices until it's too late. |

How the fk can u leave a turbo freestanding... it uses the upipe and dump pipes to support it. The bracket does fk all... Its not hard but it takes time and most often then not the nuts are on so tight around the dump that sometimes u need to cut them off. And then u wonder why we take the piss And before u ask YES i have taken my GT40R rotated mount turbo off before. and i can tell u i removed that first before touching the upipe and dump...
