Well I've found your threads pretty useful as I'll be doing all the same stuff once I got some funds saved up, and it's given me inspiration that anyone can do it :P

To late for that, the guy asked a reasonable question and this is what he gets in return

How is he harming you by asking these questions and trying to get a little bit of help? So what if he is doing it wrong at least he has made an attempt to rectify his problem by coming to a place that you would think like minded people will be here to offer advice?

I know that you are a respected person around here, and that i have only been around 5 or 6 months and probably have very little right to stand up to you, but from my perspective you went a little hard on this poor guy and it comes accross as poor form from a long term member of a great forum!

Fuck there are some bullshit responses in this thread, come on fellas he's asking a genuine question and you're all taking the piss. Be a bit more helpful yeah..

i personally dont know much about the EJ20/EJ25 setup as i haven't really worked on mine but if this is anything like the Toyota JZ's that i know like the back of my hand..

You said it sounds like a lumpy V8 then stalls?

Have you knocked the plug out of the AFM/MAP Sensor (or whatever the Subaru uses to measure manifold/intake pressure) or a loose wire to it or something? Even if there is an intake leak in cooler piping or something along those lines, the car will STILL idle... It will only begin to stall if you increase the revs/put boost through it..

However if there is a faulty signal from the AFM/MAP sensor, the ECU cannot read the manifold pressure, and thus you will get that lumpy idle and eventual stall..

As mentioned before, check all your vacuum lines too. A loose Vac line (or more likely improperly reconnected vac line..) will also cause this problem.

Too many sandy vaginas around here.

Make sure the intake manifold is re-installed with gaskets and that nothing else has been left off or disconnected (i.e. small things like the boost pills missing from your lines before can have a big effect later on).

I would recommend getting a service manual for your car and ensuring it is reinstalled correctly and at the correct torque settings. There are plenty of places on the net to grab a copy too i.e. http://ken-gilbert.com/impreza-manuals

I think good on you for giving it a go, but make sure you have a good read and research prior to doing your own work. Usually you can find out the best way from others mistakes or by following the workshop manuals.

what moobs said

Intake manifold gaskets is all u need go to subaru parts deparment with ur vin number and then order the correct part... Without the gaskets it will leak.. I also found if uve got a phenolic spacer that putting a gasket underneath the TGVs and ontop of them really gives a good seal..

Mate its more the fact that 'she', isn't doing any research beforehand. Most of her threads could have been answered with a VERY simple google search.
