maybe he's not familiar with the quirks of the subaru cooling system, just because someone is a mechanic doesn't mean they know everything about every car just saying

Radiators are pretty common things on cars Chris. I mean if i took my car to a "qualified mechanic" i would expect him to know how to service/repair my (fairly common) subaru. I mean we arent talking about bugati veyrons here.

yea, if ur mechanics, all engines etc are based on a design and manufactures that there are differences between other manufactures, this creates a advertising edge, but a mechanic should know some sort of simple diagnostics. Im a 4yr mechanic, try bleeding the system, as long as that coolant chamber is higher then all the other coolant hoses, connections then you dont need a "spill free container", those things are used to promote air bubbles to come to the surface, but as long as its higher then the rest, which i think they are, but you need to be clear on what characteristics of when the gauge is doing this, does it going slowly like all of them operate but continues to climb? or does it go up straight up away?. But check for rodent infestation, seen it be4, they have eaten away at the wires, caused excessive resistance, because thats how the temp sensor works, has the temperature increases the resistance value increases, so if half the wire has been eaten away or theres corrosion, the resistance value will increase more then it shud, then the guage will read higher.

^ Ror!

I've never understood either, why she continues to post up threads asking all sorts, when she's dating a mechanic...???

+ 1 for Rodent Infestation or Sandy Vagina.

Brent.

This thread needs more ant-eater.
