Default simple question simple answer

I don't understand you all. I am sure all the man wanted to know is if he could remove the valve covers with the engine in the car.. Not if he was looking for broken parts or what not.. The simple answer is yes you can remove and replace what ever you want to with the motor still in

Nope, just did head gaskets on a '01' Outback this week, it had rockers, Subaru still make SOHC engines today

I was actually just wondering if you could do the rocker covers on both sides of a GC8 WRX without undo'ing any engine mounts and without tilting engine itself?..

I have a mate that will be going the rest of it for me because i am stumped and have no clue, but i was just wondering if it was possible, and if it isnt can you wilt the engine with the gearbox still attached?
To answer your question, i had to undo the engine mount BOLTS to shift the motor over for the extra cm or two so the cam cover could clear the cams!

No you dont need touch the gearbox, your not twisting the motor only shifting it left and right depending on which side your doing! Hope you get it

Did you have to undo them on both sides? I wish I had done this when changing spark plugs.

Call me crazy, but dropping the exhaust manifolds makes things a bit easier. Makes it easier to remove/install the rearward rocker cover bolts (yes, Subaru calls them rocker covers!) and to clean the mating surface.

Would dropping the exhaust manifold be worth it? I mean, would it be more work to drop them than it would be to work around them?
