Thanks for sharing.

Do you work for Roktex? As on the website the order kit is $34.95 not $29.

Kato it must have been on special as I only paid $29, admittedly a couple of months ago.

Yup a little crazy. I guess it's way better than a face so I should probably stop stressing and just check it again in a few months.

Just added this report to another thread and had some interesting comments back. Suffice to say I am off to have a compression test to supplement these results.

Looking for some opinions. (Relevant would be a bonus)

Honda Prelude oil test

Given it's got good compression on forged internals I'm taking a punt that the Aluminium levels may simply be the nature of the beast. Sample was after ~2000kms on 20W-50 Nulon. Engine has 35,000kms on it.

Interesting thing is I get a level of 12 and an orange "high" oil drop while Revhead get a 31 and a yellow "elevated' comment.

Some feedback on the oil test.

Quote:
The normalisation factor is applied so that results are comparative and trends are easy to identify. In effect the oil sample you provided was for 2000 kilometers, the comparative is based on 10 000 kms and that is why the normalisation factor is 5 i.e. 5*2000 = 10,000. This means that the aluminium level has been multiplied by 5 too, due to the normalisation value of 5 being fairly high it introduces a greater margin of error. This figure for aluminium may be an anomaly.

We would recommend that you take another sample closer to the regular service interval to see if the value was an anomaly due to the normalising factor or a trending value.

The warning threshold value for aluminium is 4.0 which means that if the multiplication factor of 5 had not been applied to the aluminium then the value would have been 12/5=2.4 which is below the threshold of 4.0. This means that when the sample was taken that the value was within the acceptable range providing it does not increase significantly over the next 8000 kms.
Sample to be redone closer to 10,000km. Assuming it makes it that far.
