how much did they quote you to diagnose?

I think its a bit strange that your speedo just suddenly stopped working if there's no wires coming from the transducer! I'm sure the Tech's can read a workshop manual and figure it out, at least I hope so.

$137 just for them to take it in the door, and charged every hour after that, i only leaving it there for an hour...

I just want to say, as someone that works at a dealership, that the service advisor saying they probably wouldn't be able to sort it really is unacceptable in my opinion. The Tech's may not know everything about every single car Subaru ever produced, but they have access to workshop manuals and have direct contact with the manufacturer here in Aus, and to FHI through Subaru Aus. Plus they can contact other dealerships in Perth for help. Being positive towards customers would go a long way.
