You'll find that Wikipedia article is not written based around Australian VIN's. Which are different to Japan and other countries.

As above, the article is probably based on American USDM Subarus. EJ20K sounds about right for the year of car

Piggy back question.
Nephew bought himself an MY04 sedan

Vin is showing
This doesn't seem right. GG = wagon doesn't it?
Engine code 9 doesn't sound right for displacement either?

Any thoughts?

Cheers, Paul.

Holy shit, Paul is alive!

MY04 WRX sedan should be GDAD from memory, GG9 sounds like a GX wagon.

GG means Impreza hatch or wagon, 9 means 2.0L awd non turbo, K means rhd, second K means sohc manual. definitely not a wrx, or a sedan

Yeah mate still breathin..... just very little time for anything these days... married, baby on way and to many mortgages

Yeah I'm bit concerned about this as I've looked over the net and vin isn't making sense.

From what I could decypher I got gx wagon too. I did tell him to pass on the car after I test drove it. Didn't feel right to me.
