Have a bit of a read around on what's required to strengthen the 2.5L block and internals, to make them handle high boost/more power.
Unfortunately, it's not a matter of chucking forged slugs and rods in it. However, in saying that, a 2.5L running 18psi will still make you giggle like a school girl, (especially with the listed handling mods) whilst still being reliable.

24psi on a TD04! They stop being efficient at around 19psi, that turbo would have been living on borrowed time

24 psi is for poofs. With supporting mods, it goes quite well. 19psi (1.3 bar)?? Nah, heaps more to go.
TD04 at 29+ psi is where it was at fool! Epic hairdryer of win. VF34 melts the pavement...

I push mine to 17 -18psi it seems ok doesn't ping and it definitely puts a smile on my face
