Default Need help with fault codes

Hi guys, my 98 WRX has the engine light staying on. Only happened this morning. Got sparky to pull codes:
38 torque perm signal
81 torque up control valve
48 lean burn system
Not sure if they are all active or not.

Had a look at some threads here but the codes Dont match up. Can anyone lead me in the right direction?

Only had the car a few weeks, its the second time I've driven it. It's got FMIC, pod filter, apex ACV boost controller, 3" exhaust, turbosmart BOV.
ive tinkered with the boost controller, but I've set it to "off" anyway. Maybe I've fiddled with it too much lol
Thanks guys

The code 38 is a communication error between the ECU and the TCU, so it must be an auto, can't find the other 2 codes, I've looked in our '97, '98, and '99 workshop manuals. I've never heard of this 'lean burn system' on Subaru's. Is this an Aus delivered car?

Boost controller off? How did the sparky read the codes?

I'd recommend going to see a Subaru specialist like Doug @ STechnic rather than just a sparky. As mentioned the codes don't seem to make much sense.

Its a manual. Jap spec car. Yeah I think he used a Snap On scanner. The car Is just at Wheels World now getting tires, after he is done I'll try the self diagnostics with the 2 connectors under the steering wheel. Hopefully different codes come up that we can understand lol. With the apexi controller, there is 3 functions, A, B and off. Hopefully someone who has one could tell me how to use it.
Thanks guys

I'd be concerned that 'off' means no boost control.

Usually A is boost setting 1 and B is boost setting 2 (high/low boost). Turning it off isn't the best idea. If you are concerned just dial up a low boost of 10psi or something.

If its a manual car, and its outputing automatic transmission fault codes, something isn't right, most likely wrong ECU. Try clearing the codes, take it for a drive and see what comes up. You will definitely have to take it to a workshop, even if its just because they will have wiring diagrams(maybe)

hey guys, i plugged in the black connector under dash, and got code 44. wastegate fault. found an aftermarket resistor in the 2 pin plug at the wastegate solenoid (apexi boost contoller uses its own by the looks of it). it was loose, tested and secured, now all good. thanks for the replies and help.
