^ ZMK, beat me to it as I was copying the link!

Hainsy: yeah, when it's fully open there is nothing to stop the flow, so you will get all the power of a regular 3" or 3 1/2" exhaust. Read that thread ZMK posted up for answers to lots of questions you're likely to have. There's also a big thread on here about exhausts in general. 'Search' function will bring it up.

I have one on my car.... love it, very good for when I'm coming home late at night and don't want that loud rumble waking my entire street up also going stealth ninja when five-o drive past.

With it closed you get less performance, car doesn't pull hard at all since there is no airflow but with it open it's just as normal as any other cannon

I haven't got a varex system. Still stock atm but decided to go for a butler built exhaust. As the noise factor is pretty big for me I might actually have an extra resonated fitted by norm butler granted I still get a recent boxer rumble + performance increase. I don't know if anyone here can vouch for that.

I've seen so many comments saying that a varex is illegal due to the fact that it alters the amount of emissions coming from the car. For some reason I cannot find any concrete answer on this.

MMS + S-Technic don't seem as keen on using X-Force products as they are on using someone like norm butler. Not 100% sure on why this is. It also kind of annoyed me that at the time the 'official' reseller of X-Force products in WA wouldn't even do the wiring for the Varex tip.

I hope I don't regret my decision to go with a butler built system, hopefully the neighbors won't go crazy on me on one of my late night returns ;p

? and how much was the whole system?
There are some prices on the thread I linked you to. Depends if you're going full TBE or not. Keeping in mind that if you get the full TBE you may be inclined to get the car tuned as well pushing the end bill up by a fair bit.

.

Get butler system, then sell your butler muffler. Buy Varex Cannon off ebay, do the wiring yourself or if you're not good with that stuff, take it to a autoelectrician to do it.

I had a full TBE with an oval muffler but then I got my hands on this varex, was 2nd hand and all I did was take it to a autosparky and he did the wiring for me for $50 if I recall correctly

You don't need to get a full x-force TBE.... only the muffler if you're keen on the quiet/loud controls

Utter lies.

Varex does not alter any emissions, it all still comes out the same exhaust pipe. It is pretty much the same systems as used in the HSV Bi-modal exhaust. It is just a muffler at the end of a pipe.

The reason workshops choose Norm Buttler's exhausts is they are a quality product. A full X-force TBE is just china crap to be honest. You could get Norm to build the exhaust up and then put a Varex (or any other brand you want) muffler on the end.

I had put the Varex muffler on my MY05 as I was sick of the noise in my neighbourhood. Loved it that much, I have one on my MY98 and will probably change out the exhaust on the Evo X later to dual Varex mufflers.
