Default cold start.

Hi guys,

everytime i go to start the car and the engine is cold there is a loud noise kinda high pitch.. point is its loud !! and give it about 20secs and it goes away. Its a 2007 WRX. any reasons why it could be doing this? i thought it could be a belt.. what do you guys think?

Cheers!

Sounds like a drive belt, I'd try retensioning them first.

it should be checked at every service, so every 6months or so. Preventative maintainance is what it would be described as. Of course, things can fail between services.

My car did that, and it ended up being the alternator belt. Very high pitched noise for first couple of mins then it went away.

Yeah same noise ! its most probably just the tension. will get it checked out this friday by mms. since i don't have the tools or the time. Belts were last checked when my car did a 50k service which was by Subaru so more then sure its tension.

cheers for the reply guys

Ivan
