Default Yet another battery / brant issue

Due to not being able to drive a manual for the past month and the next, the Version 6 has been sitting there doing nothing. I figured I better kick it over but looks like I left it to long. Car is dead in the water.

Alarm doesn't work and car doesn't even kick over. The battery is an Optima which previous owner installed. I don't have jumper leads (stolen) so dug out the battery charger and hooked that up for a while.

The keypad has come to life ...... sort of. The number 1 stays lit. I have searched here and tried the disconnect battery, turn key, connect battery and that doesn't work.

I press the 1 and the countdown sequence comes on and holding 3 doesn't help either.

I don't know what else to do apart from leaving the charger on a bit longer.

Is there anyone that can help? Even free to come help me in Kingsley who knows what they are doing?

Thanks
Dan.

Try calling Doug at STechnic. He may know what to do.

I have found when the battery completly dies, you need to keep it on the charge for a solid 5 - 6 hrs.

That said, my charger is fairly dodgy.

number one illuminated means it is in valet mode, it should just start. quite common when the battery voltage drops.

Being an older Brant it would likely not have the updated battery backup module (which came in MY03> and which holds your code in memory for 3 months)...so you should try re-setting the keypad. There is a procedure (which requires 2 people) on this Forum...try a search.
For the procedure to work however, the car battery needs to be in good working order and fully charged.

Stolen jumper leads...you should see a policeman about that!

Yep I know when it is in valet mode but it doesnt count down the starts like it should. The battery must be really flat.

I blame the wife. The leads would have been in her boot and she hardly ever locks the car as she thinks there is nothing to take, obviously not.

Anyway, I had a mate come round with jumper leads and it kicked over. I have let it idle for about half hour and got my mate to go for a lap round the block. Audible alarm and central locking work fine now but the brant is a definite no go still.

What now you think?

probably needs a new keypad module, but you need to let it charge overnight or get a new battery and try that first.

Are the brants worth connecting? Have another alarm system installed in my own, but the stock keypad stays there still. Just curious if i should switch back to the brant?
