Default Brant Issue (i Assume)

Went through and read the issues people have had with their brant alarms and low and behold last night for the first time it fucked me over.

Car 04 wrx, used it throughout the day perfectly no issues, after dinner last night go to start it, no lights on the keypad come up nothing. So i tried to lock and unlock the car doors several times to see if it would have a effect but nothing. So i called up a mate and we connected the jumper leads to the battery and while it was giving the battery a slight charge i relocked and unlocked the car and then it allowed me to enter my code and start the car.

So of course today i need to deal with this (besides ripping the brant out), here is what i am thinking of doing:

1. replace car battery
2. replace battery in keys ?
3. check the price on how much it costs to replace the brant with a auto watch

Is it possible that the alternator is having issues ? and what is general battery life and which time you should replace the battery ?

Thanks

Michael

If the alternator is playing up you would have had the battery light(among others) either flashing intermittently or constant. Ive personally experienced the Battery and Handbrake on constantly and the check engine flashing on from time to time. That was until i lost the entire cluster a few minutes later!

Id change the car battery first and see how you go, sounds like it just went flat

WHS^^^ replace the car battery first, see how that goes, before spending 600-700 on a new alarm. MOst battery manufacturers warrant their batteries for 2 years, so thats a good minimum, anywhere up to 7 years.

Subaru's don't have any security coded stereos or anything(except the MY11 Lib's)
You may need a mastercode reset though.

Check the voltage in your battery. If it's under 10V brant will go into sleep mode.

Replace battery, profit. If new battery is not keeping charge, replace alternator, profit.

Thanks for the feedback guys. Just replaced the battery and seems to be fine so i guess i will have to monitor it over the next week to see if the issue returns or not.
