Just wondering how many people currently have CEL issues?
(either from an exhaust upgrade or something, please explain in detail )


IF you know the CEL code your new age (01 -> 05) wrx/sti is throwing up would you please post it up along with the model wrx (MY01, MY02 blah blah).

x-force, turbo back 3" stainless steal, high flow cat, canon muffler. Manufacture date duno, put on car about 6-7 months ago, CEL only came up 5-6 weeks ago.

2005 wrx sedan 66k miles

-short ram air intake
-invidia tbe with high flow cat

I've had my intake and cbe installed for a while now, and in the last few weeks installed the downpipe. I had it on the highway for the first time since the install for maybe a little over an hour and i got 3 CEL codes. Right after, when stuck in traffic, i noticed the idling was different and started to panic.

-P0303 - cylinder 3 misfire
-P0304 - cylinder 4 misfire
-P0420 - Catalyst system efficiency below threshold

So I'm no mechanic, but i'm going to guess its the new downpipe. Now the question is if i need to get it tuned now, or is it as simple as a new o2 sensor? Also, why is causing cylinders 3 and 4 to misfire?

Can you elaborate for me.. Is it critical to get the tune now? Its not an 02 or coil? Not that i dont want one in the future but i dont have someplace near by where i can just go. I am getting the cobb ap very soon, can i manage with that or do i need to go to a shop before that? Is this a problem where i shouldnt be driving untill its resolved?

Typically a CAT issue have a mechanic look at that one. Will either require a tune or CAT is going bad & needs replacing. (I had this code pop up in the early stages of purchasing my car, CAT had lose bits in it. Replaced CAT with a HighFlow CAT & Code has long been gone for 1.5 years now.)

In saying that tho, misfire can cause this code.

- P0303 - cylinder 3 misfire
- P0304 - cylinder 4 misfire

Never good to have missfire codes going, Get that shit sorted ASAP.

You should have gone straight to your tuner of choice once you had those mods installed. I would not be driving the car at all until you have had it tuned for those mods. You need either an open source Verso tune or Ecutek software tune. Try Allstar Garage or Maximum Motorsport and expect to pay $1-2K for this.
