Can and has been done. Here is comments from owner who did and pictures of the end result. Do it Jme.

"Sti hub conversion is a very tedious process you have to also see if the splines in the axles are a match and if the sti axle will mate with the splines in the automatic tranny.
If in case you plan to use the sti axle. Looking at it visually theres a big difference between sti axle and fxt axle... And yes this will cost you a lot. Hope this helps"

It's only to fit wheels I already have, the additional 10mm spacer will flush out the wheels anyway. A set of Hsd's, zorst, tune and party on!
