DBA 4000 or 5000?
Hey guys looking at upgrading my rotors before the next track meet in September. Been looking at the DBA slotted series and look great but would like some opinions on the comparable difference between the 4000 and 5000 series from all the people here.
They will be for everyday use but once a month be used on track. Also, looking at QFM A1RM brake pads. Are they compatible with them? Thanks in advance! Sent from my iPhone using Tapatalk

5000 series rotors are 2-piece so basically you can replace just the actual rotor surface instead of the whole thing.
you can also get different colour "hats" i dont know much about track brakes but i would think the 4000 series would be ok and the 5000 series rotors are pretty expensive initially but you save money when it comes time to replace just the rotor surface

I doubt you'd need the 5000 for a once-a-month skidpan/track/thrash. But it's your opinion on value. I believe the 4000s will be up to the task, and the only advantage you'd get from the 5000s is, as Matt said, the cheaper replacement cost after an initial period. But given your activities, it may take many many years for you to realise the savings as discs are not often replaced.
I am running the DBA 4000s and QFM A1RM combo you are interested in. The advantage of the A1RMs is that they are toted to be 'good from cold'. I found this to be true on the recent hillclimbs where you're waiting 30+ minutes between runs and then hitting the brakes at around ~140-odd km/h to slow down to around 20km/h. I'll be testing the combo's longevity this coming weekend @ RAC where I'll be doing 5 X 3laps of the circuit & skid pans. Keep ya posted!

I cracked 2 sets of 4000 doing speed events now running 5000. 5000 ftw for sure

The other "main" advantage of the 5000 that as mentioned, with their 2 piece design, the aluminium hat prevents as much heat transferring from the rotor to the hub when they are super hot after lots of laps.

everyone is different, it all depends on how hard your are on your brakes and what pads you run. I ran used endless CCX pads on my DBA 4000 and warped them after one track day at the HAT (mind you it was raining that day so may have cooled unevenly)! I've heard good things about QFM A1RM pads however they are quite noisy. I've had different pads and so far endless MX72 at 440 + postage is by far my favorite.

Im currently running A1RMs on mine and i found them to be pretty ace.
I found they work alot better once they have a little bit of heat in them, saying that though they are awesome on the street in normal emergency stopping conditions. I plan on running 4000's once my front discs die.

The 5000's are also about 2kg's a corner lighter. Not really an issue for the street but something to think about seeing as it is unsprung weight.
