That is actually my Cylinder Head that got done.
I previously wanted to do a CNC Porting. And my research actually direct me to Kelford in NZ.

I sent my Cylinder head early December 2010. The job was promised to be done and delivered back to me before Xmas. Unfortunately it was not delivered on time. I got people from Evolution R help me install this head. But it was before xmass they told that they were sorry they could not get it done on time. Mechanics from out of town are already in Bali to get the Jobs done. And on 19th of January 2011 I have to go to DHL Bali because my Cylinder head are not allowed in due to customs regulation. I Found it strange because I reported to Immigration chief for export so I can import them back again. But Kelford sent me someone elses Cylinder head. Custom wont allow the imports. I try to get Kelford cams to be responsible for it and they just simply ignored my email and phone. Peter Kennard who was in charge simply refuse to communicate with me. Last communication was they overdrill my original Cylinder Head (Spec C Cylinder head $$$$$$) I trust the wrong company. I have to re-export the cylinder head that Kelford sent back to me. Then I get them to sent the cylinder head to Singapore so I can get someone to collect it and hand carried back to Indonesia. I end up spending close to 6000Aud with this company. Time consuming is 6-month. And they did not properly installed the Oversized Valve and clearance.

They are simply irresponsible. I ask for CNC Porting and it looks like just a freehand porting. I sent them condolences about the earthquake and their response is quite rude.

So I Am very unsatisfied with their unsatisfactory services.

I also see comments that the heads has been burnt. Well thats the replacement head Kelford gave me, replacing my over-drilled cylinder head.

We are just sharring about undelivered service that kelford provide me. Nothing about the waranty. If they overdrilled my original cylinder head, they should simply report and replace it with an adequate cylinder head. But they simply ignored it and sent it to me and got stop in our customs.

Do you all think I should deserve these kind of service?

If the above is correct sounds like you may have money to burn. I'd be having some fun at their expense.

It's tempting to ring Kelford to get their side of the story.. Its hardly fair they are being bagged out on a public forum without the ability to defend themselves.

Also I work with Indonesian customs on a daily basis and they only reject a product for a very specific reason. It's down to the consignee to advise the shipper of the specific requirements of indonesian customs in order to organise the clearance.. how did they organise the shipping and under what terms?

I can forward my email communication with Peter Kennard, if that helps.

Regarding customs. Indonesia will not allow used parts imports. So once I bring my parts out, I need to report it for re-imports purpose. Each cylinder head are give a unique number. So that unique number has been recoded with our customs here in Indonesia. And once Kelford sent me someone else cylinder head to replaced my over-drilled cylinder head that I no longer can use, my customs clearly would not let the head in.

I Tried to get them pay for re-export, Kelford told me that it was not their responsibility that my cylinder head got hold in customs.

Using our good intention we tried to communicate this problem personally, but I felt that they are very arrogant in responding back to me.

I feel upset once I spent money but did not get my money worth.

I know how you feel mate, there is a bloke in down town Kuta that i would be very interested in speaking to also!

Story goes like this, so here i am a big fat dude in Bali looking for shirts cos they cost like $9 aus and i find a few different styles of race shirts (wrc, moto gp etc) and in a size that fits!

I did a deal with the guy that i would buy 15 different shirts in size 3XL (remember i am a fat c@#t) but he only had 3 styles there in 3xl and the rest were around the corner at his mates stand. he tells me to go have lunch (again i am really fat!) and he will do get them on his scooter!

long story short i check them and head home, i get back to perth to find that the prick had drawn and extra "x" on the others with a black pen!

While not the same story as yours it is doing me about as much good as your by venting on the internet, besides if i took it back i am sure he would tell me "same. same but different" anyway!

Yes you are right.

From what I understand, ASEAN countries including Singapore and Thailand do not allow engine parts to be sent out of the country to be worked on without customs logging the heads with serial numbers. Heads sent back must bear the same serial number otherwise they will be refused entry.

Special permisision must be applied for even when changing the heads over locally. I think that was what happened here.

With regards to Kelford's side of the story, I suggest that he posts his commications with Kelford here to prove his story.

Regards,
Mao

Hi Armand
The job would take approximately 2 weeks.
Best price to do the cylinder heads with 1mm oversize valves but with no cams is NZ$3000 assembled.
Yes we have shipped to Indonesia. Freight cost between NZ$250 and NZ$400 depending on how quickly you want to get them.
Do you want to send heads over or would you want us to find some here for you to purchase. We cannot do exchange.

Yes if you could get us a cylinder head and quote me for it it would be much better.

Because my consideration is, if the shipping cost from Indonesia to NZ is not much of a different than purchasing a new Cylinder
Than I would like to get one. Not to mention if my original Cylinder Head got misplaced or lost in sending then I would not have
a cylinder head.

So if there is a cylinder head that is available in NZ and it is affordable, then I would like to get Cyl Head from Kelford.

There is one available in UK for GBP 3000 Shipped to Indonesia.

So I am hoping that Kelford Nz could help me out on this one, to make the best out of my STI

Sincerely

Armand Setiawan

Dear Peter. I just would like to update the Cyl Head.
We have a problem with our own customs before export.
There are few documents that we need to provide them
for the re-import.

Hopefully by today or monday the Cylinder Head is heading toNew Zealand.

Hello Armand
Sorry about the delay.
We are having staffing issues at the moment and very busy time of the year but I am endeavouring to get your heads ready for shipping tomorrow (Wednesday).

In regards with the shipping. do you mind not attaching any invoice? This is only for the tax purposes. *** in Indonesia told me to get you write me a letter that there is nothing to be fixed on my cylinder head. So what Kelford did was just clean up and inspection and did not see anything wrong with the cyl head.

Sounds wrong but, the tax system are not proper. Last time I send manifold from australia. Value was 999aud and they tax me 350usd. And I send sam co hose value 600aud, tax was 1usd. I send tomei engine and no tax at all.

To avoid any wrong tax charged to me. I encourage all my sti vendor to re-value the invoice.

I also need your bank detail for the transfer.

Dear Peter I need to follow up for tomorrow the 10th.
How long will it take to finish?
Cause as I said on my last email, that mechanic from Australia is coming on the 12th.
I can not exchange their tickets, because its a promo tickets.

How soon can you get those Cylinder head done? Considering the fastest shipment from
Nz To Bali is 4 working days. If you deliver them by the 11th The soonest it will get is the 15th
and lets hope that DHL Bali is open that day. if Not I will get it by 17th.

This delayed has caused me time and unexpected accommodation price tag for the extension stay of my mechanics.

Hello Armand
I have spoken to the guys in the workshop, and it turns out we damaged one of your heads and replaced it.
We can write something to that effect if it helps you with customs.
If customs have photos do they not realise the heads have actually had work done to them and therefore want to charge duty?
Regards peter
