Been driving around with a CEL for quite some time, from memory it was:

P0037 Rear oxygen sensor heater circuit malfunction

Second O2 sensor i've been through!

Is there a difference between the front/rear 02 sensor? Or any one will do?

They are completely different front to rear. The front one is an Air fuel ratio sensor, the rear one is an O2 sensor. The A/F-R sensor is a titania sensor which varies Amperage in the detection circuit by varying resistance. The rear O2 sensor is a standard sensor which genarates a voltage via the oxygen content difference between exhaust and atmosphere.
Good news is O2 sensors are relatively cheap for non-genuine kits, About $150 I think.
Try EFI Automotive in Balcatta.
But, if this is your second one in a very short time, proper diagnosis should be done. The sensor may need to be relocated.

Nice one.

Yeah the second one which went in was a second-hander from ASG. So it might have been busted up somewhat prior.

Bought a Scan Gauge 2 yesterday so i will confirm it was indeed the rear 02 sensor and then go from there.

Pretty sure it's not the one on the headers - Think it's the one either near the dump or further down in the mid pipe i think it was.

Cheers mate.

I got one of these OBD2 readers and check engine light has been coming on, but says that no codes can be found. Dodgy scanner or just no codes?
if there is shaft play in the turbo and loss of compression should that be picked up?

Codes are stored, if the CEL has gone. If the CEL is on, it should be picking the code up. Doubt it would CEL from a Turbo shaft play, unless that somehow triggers a sensor somewhere else to cause a CEL.

What scanner are you using?

Think i've used one of those before. Might have been Dougies actually. Took a bit of messing around with from memory for it to bring up the code.

I've had CEL lights but not been able to pull a code with a ECUdatascan.
