Just for you Russ:

Each to their own.

The cross drilled & slotted rotors I have are now on their 2nd set of pads, they survived Collie...Where I got them hot enough to burn the paint off the hubs (using 'real' EBC greens).

I'm also very particular about not staying on the brakes when they're hot hot & the car is stationery....Especially on spirited drives.

Trying the Qfm pads now, rotors still didn't need machining when they were fitted.

My Cross drilled rotors will crack eventually, they all do, but they are still a great disk for the coin.

Slotted are better than solid face due to the slot wiping the face of the pad, the gas release issue with them is now kind of a mute though, as all good pads have central vent 'Slot' in the friction material which achieves the same result as far as the slots allowing the pads to 'out gas'.

I'll need to double check.....I've had them on since 16-05-2009 @ 202,000km.
I've done about 50,000km on them so far.

Adam @ Abs Osborne park is the contact to speak to.
The Disc's are Protex Ultra Street.

<bump>

I want to replace my rotors as I believe they are worn. This will be primarily for street use although i'd like to be able to do the odd 3/4-lap track day at barbs or RAC as well. Pads are QFM A1RM and i'll do the fluid at the same time.

Now my knowledge of differernt rotor types is fairly basic... not interested in buying slotted "because racecar" and I don't believe in buying higher spec than what I'll need em for. Can someone explain to me the difference between these two from DBA?

DBA Subaru WRX STI MY01-05 Brembo "HD Direct" Series Front Rotors (PER PAIR) - Pro Speed Racing

Vs DBA T3 4000's ?

DBA Subaru WRX STI MY01-05 Brembo "T3" 4000 Series Front Rotors (PER PAIR) - Pro Speed Racing

Where's the extra $160 going? or should I just buy OEM from Subaru (anyone know how much they are?
cheers

Go slotted. I noticed a huge difference once I put slotted on, the brakes don't fade anywhere near as quickly.

DBA 4000 is a great all rounder for reasonable coin. Check out GSL Rallysport, I will only use them for brake products, they are very good!

Make sure you put in good fluid and bleed the brakes properly.

DBA 4000 pisses on RDA slotted too...

It's all bling for the most part, but the 5000's are nice. :-)

I'm still running Protex Ultra Street front rotors.........Now on my second set & back to proper EBC Green Stuff pads.

I still think they're the best bang for buck rotor around - first pair did about 70k km.
