As far as i know, this only becomes an issue with the 05 - onwards models.

If you have a bug, you should be sweet. if you get them done apart and are worried about it, done thrash the daylights out of it until the tune is in it.

Whats a powercruze? lol (must learn the lingo hey? )
I have called alot of places about the exhaust for prices and asked the question about tuning. From memory the exhaust specialists said no , MMS said it may kill your engine and it may not and RMS said only if the engines already on its way out.

Ultratune
but seriously it's recommended to get a tune after putting an exhaust but you can get away with it. I ran with no tune for few months no probs and my GC8 no tune for 3yrs also good.
However for the MY06+ I would definitely get a tune right after an exhaust is done, assuming this is full turbo back - cat back should be fine.

As for the ecu, I chose Verso as it was $900 at the time and ASG was working on the car so they would know more about it when tuning the car.

Locked as this has been covered 100 times before. Plenty of comparisons to search through.

Main differences:

Verso - Done at Allstar Garage - OpenECU software
ECUTek - Done at Race Torque or Maximum Motorsport - Uses ECUTek software, have to buy a license to use that software (which is why it costs more).

Gains will depend on the tuner. Some car/combinations perform better with the ECUTek software, others with the OpenECU software.

Search and you will find.
