I don't know what 207 rods cost, but 207 forged pistons cost $900 each!
I would say that aftermarket pistons would be more resistant to detonation then STI pistons.
STI rods are pretty bloody good, they're doweled and have the thread drilled into the rod, just like aftermarket rods.

Started bolting some parts to the block:

And TGV's deleted, just need a little clean up:

And the tools to do it:

Now I'm at a standstill, waiting for parts. I've got too much time to think, now I'm considering aftermarket engine management.

The missing link, looking forward to what this achieves.

Any chance on sharing the reasons to why using this instead of the OS verso/ecutek or motec?

NB this isn't pulling the piss, as the person who now services my Sti is also a Link fan, and not sure if its worth the move to another system

Would depend on your tuner preference.

Link G4 is a good unit. Motec is better (and costs more).

If your car is in a good spot now, there's no real reason to change, Even with Motec, you would be hard pressed to get the driveability of a factory ECU.
I'm just a Link fan, and the G4 has a lot of features that are impressive.
Dual maps for fuel/ ignition, logging, auxillary outputs. And all the motorsport stuff.
I'm keen to see what its like compared to the 44S I had before. Different planet I would think.

Motec is better, but to get the features that the Link has standard, you would be paying probably 5500 to get it all enabled, including the initial cost of the unit of course.

Cheers,

As my car progresses towards the motorsport scene I will probably look at something like the Link, (as stated, the person who services the STi now, has a preference for the link, and uses it in his rally car.) I like the idea of dual mapping, and will look into it more as your build progresses, and my skills improove.

Well they may not improove, but as I enter more events. I know the ECUtek has launch control, but it also has a bit of a bad rap as well.

Finally got a shipment of parts today, so some progress has been made.

I've fitted the Perrrin parallel fuel rail kit:

Installed the ARP head studs, which are a must have for a performance build:

And cylinder heads installed, its all happening, just waiting for the cams to show up.

I could actually put the engine into the car, but I want to wait for the cams so its easier to check valve clearances.
