Default Loud rattling noise when backing off power

I have been noticing a rattling noise coming from my gc8 it's only when I am off the accelerator and cruising down to stop it is starting to get louder and is in the region of the gearbox but can't pin point .

Has any one else had this same problem ?

Changes gears fine
And when accelerating there is no rattle

Cheers

My exhaust rattles against heat shield at the back of mid pipe, that only occurs when off throttle and slowing, maybe start eliminating any obvious points like that? Change gearbox oil and look for metal filings? #odd

Clutch? How old and what kind is it? There was an epic thread somewhere about Exedy clutches doing this.

mines doing similar things, its not a rattle tho, more like a whine. only come on when you're in gear but off thottle. i was told its the clutch bearing and i seems to be going thru one of them each year, dunno why.

Yer, it's a competition clutch that I bought from vision R about 12 months ago but I've only driven the car about 800 km but done 2 rally sprints and 2 motorkanas as well .

I just read the link you posted ......... I think I've found it !!

Cheers

I have never removed mine but on the GX I had heat shield rattle issues. On the GT Spec B I had to modify it to fit the new DP but it's still there.

Check to make sure the exhaust is in all of the rubber mounts correctly. A friend of mine had the same issue, the muffler had shifted in the mounts and was causing the pipe to rattle against the body right inline with the front seats
