Default Exhaust Proximity to CV Boot

Got hold of an exhaust that takes a very direct line from diff to tail. The 3" pipe routes under the inner CV and I'm concerned that perhaps the heat might affect the boot.

Reckon some exhaust wrap will be sufficient to protect it?

Anyone here had boot failures from an exhaust too close?

As long as there is enough clearance (10mm or so). You shouldnt have to worry. There is plenty of airflow happening under there to stop the boot being damaged by the heat.

My boot failed from being too close to the exhaust.. took about 6 years though. We just adjusted the exhaust and all is well now.

As above, 10mm or more clearance and you'll be sweet If you want extra piece of mind, just wrap some header wrap around that section of the exhaust and secure it with some metal ties / hose clamps

Yeah, clearance will only be about 10mm which is ok while the car's in motion but not enough while stationary. Poor old girl's still wearing 1994 (93 build!) rubber.

When stationary and idling, exhaust gas temps aren't usually hot enough to cause problems.

10 years out of a CV boot is pretty normal. So if yours are original they are going to be due to be replaced soon anyway.

the rhf inner is usually the first to go, same reason the rh rocker cover leaks quicker than the lh.. its just heat, cant do much about it.. just replace when needed.
