Default OBD2 or Scantool SOR?

Hi I believe my brant is playing up. Over the last few months occasionally when I go to start the car it will start then stall straight away. 50% of the time a CEL will show for a day or two. Today I was driving and the CEL came on and the car lost all power. I sat for a bit then restarted a few times and then it went ok but again with the CEL on.

So I can't really drive the car until I get the issued resolved. In your experiece would a Brant malfunction show a CEL? I don't have a scan tool so that Is my next task. Is anyone SOR area (i'm near Armadale) able to lend me a scantool or OBD2 blue tooth so I can check the CEL? I'll order ome in the meantime but it will take a few weeks no doubt.

Car is an 03 Sti.

Thanks

In my experience, Brant related issues don't cause a CEL. I have a scantool, but in Morley. Welcome to come use it to pull the code.

I'm thinking now it's more likely the Cam Angle Sensor or AFM.
Thanks for the offer, i'll see if anyone is closer first.

Thanks very much Munya.
P0230 Code came up which is Fuel Pump Primary Circuit, so pretty sure that's the
Brant cutting the fuel pump. I remember reading it can be cut, so i'll look into doing that for now and then getting the brant replaced with something else.

A bit of an update.
Soldered all the joints on the circuit board of the brant. So far so good. Hasn't played up at all yet (fingers crossed). Still not totally confident its fixed yet though.

Would look at getting it permanently fixed imo. Did the same to mine, lasted about 6 months then had the same issue again (fuel cut and CEL P0230). Too dangerous to risk it, wouldn't want the car to cut out on the freeway or in the middle of nowhere.
