Default 2.5l upgrade for a GC8-legalities?

whats required for road reg for doing the above conversion (ej25/ej257)?

is it an easy conversion in regards to keeping the pits happy?

(i tried searching for this ages ago, but kept getting to many hits on unrelated topics)
thanks

Pretty sure you have to get an approval from the pits as its a different sized displacement but don't quote me on it.

Don't know how helpful it'll be...but if you call them would they be able to tell you? (I've never dealt with the pits before)....

Engine number swap only applies to same sized engine. I believe you are allowed a 25% increase in capacity before you need engineers certificates etc. Call Welshpool and ask the guys in the tech section. Should be ok though afaik.

205 207 255 257 cant really tell the difference unless you're a subie tech which 99% of all the pit inspectors are not.
Not to say you should do the dodge like most JDM car ie skyline, silvia.

Depending on how modified the car is, passing it over the pits could be a PITA.

Same displacement = engine number swap, no pits.
Larger displacement = engineer sign off

There are numbers stamped onto the side of the block, EJ20 or EJ25, so whist having a quick glance they wont be able to tell, if they know where to look they will see the engine stamp on the block. Stamp obviously only shows engine code, code = the engines displacement (unless its been de stroked)

Like this

Call either the transport dept or an engineer, get the full facts & pricing to do a conversion & go from there would be your best bet.

don't mean to hijack this thread... but how about a six speed conversion? as there is no welding and using the same cross members etc.
