Default Fuel pump, light are off no ones at home.

Got home this arvo and tried to start my GC8.
Fuel pump or immobiliser?

Turns over fine but wont fire.
Not a splutter, pop, NOTHING. Just turns over.

I cant hear the Fuel pump prime. I could before.
Pulled it out and doesn't prime up at all.

There is a 6 pin plug on top with 5 pins on the harness/male side.
One of these pins has ignition power but none of the others power up once the immobiliser is deactivated.
This makes me suspect the immobiliser may have given up and is blocking the fuel pumps signal. I'm assuming it has isolation of fuel and ignition. It has been playing funny buggers lately as the battery died and has been recently replaced.

All fuses are fine but I cant find one that is labeled fuel pump.
Battery is new and car ran 100% when I left it a week ago.

Tomorrow i'm going out to get a new fuel pump and get a mobile auto spark to pull the alarm completely. It's an aftermarket LASER that was in the car when I brought it.

Any other suggestions???
Am I missing some thing obvious???

Check the ignition fuse again, if you have a brant(key pad) immobilized then yes it could be causing the problem

Ign fuse is fine.
Im pretty sure all imobilisers will kill the fuel pump as Aussie regs are 3 points if isolation.
I'll rip it out and throw in a new pump and see how I go.

This sounds exactly the same as my old gc8, but mine still had Brant and the Brant module crapped out. I'd check alarm before buying a new fuel pump.

I wouldn't go spending money on a pump because you don't actually know that that's the problem. Look into the alarm first. As thommo said alarm modual is the possible problem

We're not talking cattle stations for a new pump though.
Won't hurt to swap out the stocker.

Did the V4 wrx's have brants?
As stated it the first post I have a laser alarm fitted but there is an icon on the dash that looks like a key and next to it a flashing red light.
There is no key pad but the ignition key has a transponder chip hidden in side.

Hope I can get a good auto spark to have a look tomorrow.

Yes he is, he used to take all the brant systems out when they caused problems

Hey mate. I've got a brand new (genuine, not fake) Walbro fuel pump spare. I got it for my car when I thought mine died. Then realized it was the Brant. If you want to try it you can and if it's that you can buy mine cheap. PM me.

Adi
