Default 150,000km Service

So my 150,000 service is due in about 2 weeks. I have been quoted over $700 by reputable workshops that I would prefer to go to, but to put it straight, my financial situation is not going to allow for that for a few months (will be another 20,000km).

What exactly needs doing? Is it really going to make a shitload of difference in my situation if I go to a rocko spec mechanic that will probably cost 300 bucks less?

I would be supplying my own engine oil and filter but I have no idea about coolant or what other stuff they replace. I have been using a callout mechanic for my minor services lately and it's been costing about 110 bucks as opposed to good workshops charging 450 for the same thing.

I usually try to go for the best workshops available and do the right thing but it let's me down when you drive 1.5hrs to race torque, and $1300 later you find out they only put one thermostat bolt in which defeats the purpose.

Cheers.

Save the money and get it done properly. 700 now or 7000 later if everything goes pear shaped.

If you did belt and pump at 100k, cant see it being anything other than a standard service with all fluids for extra measure.

Check the manual for what needs to be done?

I'd get a quote to do the work from someone like STechnic. $450 for a standard service is higher than a dealership doing it.

Same as 50,000km service - oil (engine, trans, diff), all filters (oil, air, fuel), bleed brake fluid

i'd also do the plugs, or at least inspect them

Cheers for the replies.
@MadDocker
Just wanted to make sure nothing too important needed to be done as it will be 20,000km late for the other shit besides engine oil if I go to a decent workshop due to the high kms I do.

@TJ
Yeah belt, pump, idle pulleys have all been done.

@Kato
$450 was my 130,000 service from STechnic. It then cost another $100 to take it back for them to replace the thermostat bolts. I cannot afford to pay that at least once every month. $730 is what they quoted me an hour ago for the 150,000.

@Strubaru
Cheers, if that's the case I might keep doing normal services and plugs and replace each fluid as I acquire more money.

If you think $730 is expensive try getting a quote from a Subaru dealer for the same thing.

Save the money up and get it done properly.
In the meantime, check all the fluids to make sure the levels are all good and just do an oil change yourself.

$730 sounds like a lot more is being included than a simple service. I'd double check what you have been quoted.

Tbh, if a ~$500 service is not financially possible... Why are you doing bulk kms in a WRX? Going off your figures, I'm guessing you are doing ~1500km a week? I'd be doing that in something more fuel efficient than a WRX.

I would check what needs to be done in the manual and get that done as a minimum. Given your car is for sale, the last service is what the buyer will be looking at.

I dont see why its so important to go to Stechnic for a simple service. I have had my car serviced at plenty of spots. Grow an understanding with them and go from there. I have used Ultra Tune in subi before and they are great.

I get Stechnic or the specialists to do major services where i want a suby pro looking after it. (and then really only want Doug cos he is hot) IE when i had my 100k service done.
