This.

No offense intended whatosever to Doug, great guy whom I respect, but the instant reaction of omg get it to stechnic is ridicilous at times. I also understand the desire to support the people who support us, but not everyone is ecomonically positioned to throw dollars at a service which can be done for less.

"save up and get it done right" Whats there to do right about dropping oil and filling it back up then any competent mechanic cannot do? Especially when the owner is supplier the oils he wants used?

Thanks and Kato that's why I'm selling. I need a shitbox because I have changed jobs and now do a huge amount of km. Will save for a project and learn my cars from there.

What's your exact definition of "huge amount of km" though?

I've had my stock GC8 WRX for five and a half years and done approx. 173,000km of driving in that time, mostly travelling to/from work the maintenance and servicing costs are fucking worth it!

I'm pretty sure 150K is a pretty major service. Why not get a written quote from S-Technic who I know will break down what needs to be done.. and put the list up so all these experts can let you know what they think.

I've done 80,000km in the 2 years I've had it. Just now want to move into a different game. I do 900km per week for work, and I want to practice work on cars now rather than just drive them. I don't want to risk doing work on a daily because there is a high risk of me fucking up (which is fairly often). I am also slowly trying to move into legalized Motorsport and shit will break leaving me with no way to get to work. And I would like to go into a manual.

When I bought it, I just loved wrxs and it has served that purpose. I now have been introduced into a whole new world. I don't regret buying it, I just wish I could have been introduced into the scene a few years earlier.

Fun fact:
Until last year, I was not aware what a clubsport was, that decent rims were available other than online, didn't know cars such as S2000s, skylines etc were cheaper than $40,000, didn't know that anybody could race legally (thought you had to be picked or whatever somehow).
That's the truth behind it. I've not had a single schoolmate or family member interested in vehicles. I like to say my life technically started in March 2011.

The difference in cost will reflect the amount of work done and the ability to rectify faults during the service. If I stamp the logbook then the service is done as per the logbook. If you sell the car the new owner will expect that the servicing has been done properly.
Sure there are numerous workshops or mobile guys who can 'service' the car, possibly can do it for uunder $200 if you push them. When you ask if the fuel filter has been changed they will look blankly at you. When you ask how the cabin filter looked they will ask you what the fuck a cabin filter is. A lot of mobile guys will not rotate the tyres because they are not equippped to do so. Some suck the oil out the dipstick tube instead of draining the sump plug. Did they use Subaru upper engine cleaner? There are numerous Subaru traits that you need to know, adjusting the handbrake isn't as simple as it sounds, bleeding the cooling system can cost you an engine if not done properly (almost impossible without the right tools) The CV boots, sump plug washers etc are all specific, cheap generic ones just don't work properly.
If your budget is tight I can slim down the service, clean the air and cabin filters instead of replacing them, skip the fuel filter, skip the upper engine cleaner etc. and jst make a note in the book so you can catch up next time.

Alright mate I'll probably just end up doing engine oil and filter for the next one and then go to you guys for the one after for the full thing. Bloody insurance and license, rego all coming in which will have to take priority. I'll PM or ring you when I get enough to get it done properly, I just wanted to make sure that something isn't going to 100% explode if it isn't done on the dot.

I do prefer going the extra mile to whatever high performance workshop I can get to at the time as I feel more comfortable leaving my car with people that breathe HP cars, not just work on them. Haven't been able to stick with one workshop unfortunately though due to work hours and distance from home.

I have been around to 4 workshops in rocko before and not a single one knew what a bov was (even a stock one), so it scares me a little letting them touch my car. Ian diffen for a wheel alignment. No worries, I'll snap your front lip off on the hoist. Mobile mechanic. No worries, I'll snap your front lip again by driving it out of the driveway. Go to you guys. No damage at all lol

The only reason I suggested Doug is because he has always offered the right service at the right price. From the initial post I assumed the quote was from Race Torque, so I figured he should get a check price from Doug.

As I have said and Doug has clarified, it is not a simple oil change for $100. The guy is selling his car and I'm sure the last thing he wants is a seller walking away as the car hasn't been serviced as per the log book or it reduces his asking price since it has been serviced incorrectly.

It is up to the OP how he chooses and where he chooses to get his car serviced.

if you have a trolley jack + axle stands, and a torque wrench, it can be done in under 60mins (using hand tools) or under 25 mins if you have access to a rattle gun. that should save you a few bucks there. jack car up, place on axle stands, repeat for other end, use rattle gun to remove lug nuts, rotate and torque the nuts correctly.
