Engineering & modifications
I'm interested in this car
http://m.gumtree.com.au/v?adId=1013437752 It's been extensively modified by the owner, what are the requirements to make it fully road legal ? Just concerned if the cops pull me over & issue a yellow sticker, will it need to go over the pits, then will it be ripped to pieces due to the mods on the car? How much would it cost roughly to get it engineered? Thanks in advance |

So it has to meet emissions as well FFS, unless it can be remapped to tune it down somehow

the amount of mods on there that would need engineering certs if he hasn't already got, will take alot of time and money to sort out, i wouldn't worry about the certificates and just dont drive like an idiot .. looks fairly stock on the outside

Lol at never being boosted over 1 bar..... Don't let that scare you off though. It is an absolute monster of a car! Pretty much completely re-built over the last couple of years from the sound of it.
Full specs here: http://www.perth-wrx.com/vb/your-dri...-reborn-2.html Call ASG and chat to the boys there. They should know the car pretty damn well!

Passing an emissions test isn't an issue with a proper tune and the right test facility.
I've just been through the process. Allow a few months. All up, including brake test, emissions test, noise test, mechanical inspection and Engineering report you won't get much change from 1k. The process here consists of: Application to the DOT for modifications They send you back a letter giving approval to proceed. You then take the car with changes to the certifying Engineer It gets checked, tested and you get sent away to get the emissions test done. Then said report gets written on successful passing of all tests. Book in for a DOT inspection with Engineering Report. If all OK, do skids out the front gate and repeat process. Said Engineer can lodge the initial application to the DOT for you if you need.

Buy it, drive it, worry about a yellow sticker it you actually get one, that's what I would be doing! Insane car! If I had the coin I would of snapped it up straight away!

That's ok saying drive it & worry about it, if you get a yellow sticker, if I do it's gonna cost me upwards of $1K, that's if I can get it passed, it's a chunk of money to fork out, then have car sat on drive?

So buy a stock car and do what you want with it. That way you can ensure everything is road legal.
