Speed limiter options
Less than 11 weeks to TSW.
Running in the challenge category (no cage) so limited to 130 kph in our my06 ecutek tuned Sti. Any thoughts on keeping to this limit, more than looking at the speedo, or only using the first 3 gears. Current thoughts are racerom. Any other options out there. Thanks Tim

Find what rpm that is in top gear.
Set rpm limiter on switch. Get into zone, top gear, switch on. Except you are running ecutek so no idea if it can accommodate that.

Most GPS units have a set point for maximum speed warning

Additional speedo from odb scanner for co driver.
Not a physical limiter but an extra pair of eyes on the speedo is a good thing

In the factory ecu definitions there is a speed limiter option that is preset on the wrx to 210 kmph.
depending on who tunes yours it could be reflashed to limit your speed for the event and changed back after?

However you do your speed limiter, you really want it to be automatic, as you will be spending plenty of time sitting on it, and don't want to be watching the speedo all day especially through the quick corners. A simple ignition cut when the speedo sensor reads a certain number of pulses maybe?
I have heard of some crews getting hold of the official gps recievers before the event and finely tuning their speed limiters to 2 or 3km/h under when the overspeed lights come on. You may want to set it a few more km slower to allow for the dodgee GPS signal under the canopy of trees down at TSW. You would really have to watch it mid corner when accelerating on the limit, and suddenly you hit the limiter and weight transfer to the front, means big slide, could be interesting. Maybe a soft limit could be handy. What ecu are you running? Wavey. |

Wavey.
It's an Ecutek tune, so I'm guessing its a standard ecu. The racerom could also bring launch control, flat shifting, and auto blipping, handy on other events, and also think a soft limit could be handy due to hitting the limit in the fast long corners. Stephen, this could also be an option,

cant you wire in a Bee R Rev limiter and have it sitting in the cabin so you can adjust it as you wish.
