FYI I am advised by an Eastern states tuner that the stock ecu can be open source tuned to handle flex fuel sensor by using the spare 3 fuel KCA tables and timing additive tables) and BRZ/86 done as well. Easy way was the O2 sensor heater element but the flex fuel sensor(either GM or Haltech) was easy to add in. Simple Sensor/Heater/Blended table determines which is used. TGV delete gives the sensor input wiring harness
The KCA High value adds a percentage of fuel when IAM is on 2.00, it halves the fuel added with IAM at 1.5 etc

Interested to see real world results (Non-E85 to E85 on same dyno) with the standard mods for safe/daily tune.

- EJ205
- VF34
- Injectors
- Zorst/Intake etc
- Pump
- Tune

Then i can see if it's worth converting. If there is a 20kw gain, I would probably do it.

I'm going to wait for all the guinea pigs to have their issues and faults worked out before I'd contemplate E85.

So can we use E10 thats the new 100 octane fuel available at United petrol in our subarus...here's what the FCAI says (xx means no for these models and tick tick is yes)
Can my vehicle operate on Ethanol blend petrol? : FCAI

Subaru
All Subaru (before 1990)

Subaru Liberty B4 (2002 to 2003)

Subaru Liberty GT (2004 - 2006)

Impreza WRX STI (1999 to 2005)

x

x

Subaru
All models post MY1990 except above provided the model-specific minimum octane rating is maintained

So I'm assuming from 2006 onwards we are all good to use the new 100 octane 10%ethanol fuel...not that I'm going to use it but good to know.

Why not? Its probably the best petrol we can buy in WA atm from a pump that is not E85.

As for issues etc with E85, I know we are 20 years behind the times but come on - its all common knowledge. Need more injector and fuel supply. Rest is just tuning. Backyarders have tinkered and sorted it so anyone with half a brain can do so.

SMASH THAT TIMING IN SON

IAM on 32bit ECU's are max 1.0

0.5 for half

Just because the closest United Fuel is miles away...oh hang on no...just realised there is one close by actually (OsbPark), so might use it :-D

All those with a pre 2006 subaru can't use that fuel though...according to the FCAI
