My problem, my questions, my disclaimer.

- Have a bosch 02 sensor for an aspx AFR gauge.
- They specify that it needs to be installed 24" from the turbo but before the cat.
- Obviously that wont happen as the CAT is about 7" from the turbo in the dump pipe.

What are my options? Install 7" from the turbo and risk overheating the sensor. Or install 24" down after the CAT and deal with what ever problems installing it after the CAT creates.

I dont understand as tuners jam the 02 sensor up the exhaust which is obviously post CAT when tuning so why cant i install the sensor post CAT?

Im waiting on an email back from wide-band about it. And google was 50/50 either way.

I think you'll find that as long as the head of the sensor is flush with the pipework and not in direct heat, it won't be too big a problem, but someone will probably correct me on that. I have my wideband o2 sensor on my dump pipe, no more than 10 inches from the back of the turbo, but there aren't really any other options in my case.

I would have though that it will affect the sensors ability to meter the air if its not in direct flow of the exhaust gasses?

I have always run mine in the top dump pipe section (where the stock O2 sensor sits) maybe 6" from the exhaust wheel. the sensor head sits about 10mm into the gas flow on my set up.

It has to get hot enough to burn off any carbon deposits, otherwise you'll be forever replacing sensors.

My sensors (Bosch LSU 4.2) are lasting 4 years before they begin to drift out of calibration. I use a Tech edge 2j1 controller, so I can simply unscrew the sensor & run it's free air calibration to re-calibrate an ageing sensor.

I have mine right after the joint btw dump and mid pipe. I just memorise the number on dyno at idle and wot, if that number changes then there would sth wrong. Not perfect but works so far.

The number is out (lean) by .2 on idle and .3 on wot, and sensor is perpendicular to the pipe.

Not to troll or anything. If cardon build up is caused by sensor being to far from turbo. Why tuner place o2 sensor at the end of exhaust?

But they do need to rely on the number to tune, right? Or they just know the offset, ie aim for 11.6 while real afr is 11.2? And clean deposit regularly?
