You can, sort of. But the stock 5 speed box design is also a split case system. Meaning they can twist with high pressure and cause problems. The 6 speed is a much better design that is solid. The gear unit slips out vertically instead of the 5 speed spliting lengthways.

The actual 5 speed design just isnt as good compared to the 6 speed.

Google some pics of the two boxes to see what i mean.

You need to differentiate between 'straight cut' & 'Dog box' Solarfilms

Straight cut & helical are gear teeth profiles

"Dog Box" refers to dog engagement rather than easy to drive Synchomesh that you have now. They are very different animals.

1St & 2Nd synchro straight cuts were a popular choice - they cannot be flat shifted though.

Dog engagement boxes are best left for race cars.

I had straight cut syncro engagement 1st-4th in my GC8.
you get over the noise pretty quickly, especially when your doing around 60k's an hour and you have to sit in 4th. in my opinion 6 speed is the way to go, and it will probably be cheaper to fit a 6 speed as well!
i had receipts for my one that was done at maximum and from memory was about 8k

Tow hooks, retro-fitted GD series carbon fiber bonnet scoops, STi seats, straight cuts... your priorities are all wrong.

Bigger turbo > tune > handling (sway bars, bushes, strut braces, suspension, etc) > bigger brakes WAYYYYYYYY before any of the shit you mention.

I ain't catering for your needs trolley you're car and the order you modify it is you're business. Stop taking things out of context as well.

The main reason I started this thread was to gain some knowledge on this topic and majority of threads i start.

Chances are if i know about something I'm not gonna post about it eg sway bars+ End-links, Exhaust, Brakes there's already a million other threads that can search for too.

Sorry if power isn't main priority, I've barely experienced the limits of my car as is..

In order Wheels with wider tires > Sway Bars+ endlinks > Exhaust and tune > Brakes > Verticooler

The fuck is wrong with my stock turbo ?

Why wouldn't you get the verticooler at the same time as the exhaust and tune? To get the maximun out of tve cooler it will also require a tune, so may aswell do it all together and save 250buks in the long run.

I own the same car and have done enough research and reading in 6.5 years of ownership to know what to do to an 08/09/10 and in a reasonably logical order.
