Default MY05 STI turns over but won't fire

My car is well overdue for a service and I've been a slack boy so it hasn't been driven in nearly 2 and a half months. Finally decided to pull my finger out and go to book it in for a service, but obviously battery was dead. Recharged the battery, got it checked and its all good.

Put battery back in yesterday and went to start my car, it turns over (so battery and starter appear fine) but doesn't seem to fire/catch. Can hear the fuel pump priming. I do have the stock brant system in the car but it appears to be responsive (accepts PIN, can hear fuel pump prime) and I haven't had any issues with it yet. The CEL is on both before and after I put brant code in.

Has got about a quarter tank of fuel in it, but will grab a jerry and give her another drink just incase its all settled. Will check all fuses/relays tomorrow after work to make sure they are all good, and after that going to check fuel lines to make sure the fuel pump is actually working and then spark plugs. I'm not the most mechanically gifted bloke but wanted to test all the basics before ringing a mobile mechanic like Blue Star and wasting their time on something that could be an easy fix!

What else should I be checking/testing in this situation?

I've got money on the Brant. They have 4/5 points of immobilisation from memory.

Tow it to Evo R and Mao can sort the Brant for the cheapest you will find.

^ haha bugger, I knew that's the answer I would get the second I said I had a Brant

Anything else to check before I take the leap and get the Brant replaced? Would hate to get it ripped out and still be in the same spot :P

EDIT: All fuses etc all appear fine and checked fuel line before and after filter and its pumping fine as well, so so fuel pump appears ok, so looking like the brant may be the problem. (never would have guessed hey? :P)

If you do a search on this forum you'll find a fair few threads on brants and problems people have had with them. Might find something useful. From everything I've read, most just get them replaced. Good luck.

It's probably the brant control module under the dash. That's where mine died. The electronics of it just failed, causing no end of grief, and was dangerous while driving, as it would cut fuel/ignition etc.

This is what it looks like.

The give away was a clicking sound coming from it when it fucked up.

Just as a test, Do you have a spare key you can try to start it with as well?

Thanks for the responses everyone. Just to give an update, finally got some time to have a look at the car again. Tried another simple thing I didn't think of before....put the Brant into VALET mode, and voila, car now starts

So yep, points to the Brant being faulty (who would have ever guessed.......) Still throws up a CEL after its started though, so not sure if it's ok to drive to workshop to get Brant repaired/replaced? Would the Brant being faulty cause it to still throw the CEL?

Will arrange to drop Mao a line early next week.
