Default Potential damage from Infrequently using a diesel car?

Hey guys,

As the title asks, is there any potential issues that can occur from using a diesel vehicle say, once a fortnight to do roughly 50km or so? Are the internals prone to "clogging" up or something due to inactivity? Can't seem to find much information around the net on this.

Cheers!

If anything they will clog up because of activity.

Modern diesel?
Might be concerned about the DFP (Diesel Particulate Filter) getting clogged up over time, a regeneration cycle should help to keep the filter in a reasonable state.

Yes, a modern diesel (2013). Excuse my ignorance, this is all foreign to me, but what is a regeneration cycle?

If it does one it will need to be up at full temp and driven for about 15-20 mins. (Like a 100kmh cruise down a freeway) The car will enter a mode where it specifically trys to get the DPF hot to burn off any crap inside.

Short trips and such wont allow the vehicle to reach conditions where it will allow the regen to happen, which can cause issues and CELs and such.
