Default new BOV = poor idle

hi, got a very quick (ricey) question:

i just replaced an old aftermarket bov (blitz ss) that had seized up with a new one (sard r2d2). however since putting on the new one, the car has trouble idling when stationary (sits around 300-400). this is once the car is already warmed up and is at normal operating temp.

both bovs are atmospheric, so im guessing the cause is that the spring tension of the new one hasn't been adjusted correctly. should i be TIGHTENING the top of the bov or LOOSENING it?

i have been advised by someone else that "it drops pressure when BOV is too tight and allows too much to flow, which decreases revs & almost makes car stall". is this correct and does that imply that the BOV needs to be loosened?

thanks in advance,
linh

also, i have checked the vacuum line connecting to the bov and also the hose clamps and silicon piping used to mount the BOV to the FMIC piping.

also, i have a Microtech ECU so there are no AFM issues involved.

Pretty sure you have to tighten it... mainly due to the fact that it could be leaking?

I've never heard of an overtightened BOV causing stall problems?

I'm probably wrong though, so don't take it as gospel

If all other connections external to the BOV are tight, pull the BOV apart and check the piston, make sure the seal around the piston is tight against the body and that there are no cracks or dirt or that the piston is loose. Tighten up the BOV spring, and you may need to add a small amount or grease to the piston sides to increase the integrity of the seal.

I have on of those GFB Hybrid units on 50/50 split atmo/plumb-back. I have the spring tightened up to the very maximum, yet my BOV still goes off even on very light boost below 6psi when im just driving smoothly and normally. Any one know how to increase the threshold at which it will release?

I also have one of these bovs on my car and if i do the spring up very tight not fully though it is way to tight and bov doesnt go off until 4-5k rpms which is good but not good for turbo it just flutters and compressor surges so i dont know why yours isnt when it is fully tightened
