Default Ported the turbo

Well had some time today to port the thing. Didint take very long which was good. Gonna take it to get cermaic coated on monday.

first pic is just after i started...

and finished.... i think that should be enough.

Iv also ported a section of the wastegate, not the hole - but the leading edge inside. I didnt take any picks of it, this helps eliminate any boost creep. Also I didnt bother porting the outlet or the inlet of the compressor - as I dont think there will be any gains in this.

well done on taking the plunge tode,
dont forget to port out the actual wastegate itself, enlargen that hole as much as you can on the turbine side,
and when you get it coated, do both internal and external coating of the housing.

stacey, iv been readin thru the nasioc threads and they say that porting the wastgate hole larger was not neccessary, and some ppl ran into problems when they got it retuned.
iv just ported the leading edge to make exhaust gas escape easier
Pm me your pics of it again if i can tonight, coz im takin it to get coated tomorrow

porting the gate depends on how much boost (or little boost) you want to run vs how many revs your boost tapers off for,

ie, for a little turbo (td04) to run only 1 bar of boost at red line would need a much larger wastegate then say a td06 to run 1 bar of boost at red line, the more boost you plan to run- the smaller the wastegate needs to be as more of the exhaust is running through the turbine making boost.

i guess the problems in tuning come down to whether they adjusted for the avg. boost position of the turbo, you need to build that into the tune as porting drastically alters the turbos characteristics.
