VF22 definitely IS a ball bearing turbo. A roller bearing IS an antifriction bearing but is only found in larger industrial bearings with an internal diameter of 300mm or more. I am assuming that you meant plain bearing or bush bearing?, either way the VF22 is ball bearing and will support about 250kW ATW max.

hp limits are a guide... who would have thought a vf35 could pull 270kw.

strangely enough, RT use to talk about a VF30 being able to come close to 300kw at the flywheel...no holds barred, push to failure...

yup i'd believe it too, 300kw with an airfilter on a vf30 would probably suck the seals through, go jap-style with the mesh and i'm sure it would hangon for a lot longer

I just fitted a VF34 after taking out the TD04, the differance between the two is really noticable. Yes it takes longer to spool up (3500 - 4000) but when it does, wow. It really throws you into the boot.

When I got it retuned (Ecutek 2) at MMS, steve said that it was producing 21psi which he said was too much so he reduced it down to 17psi.

It nows pulls like a freight train and the acceleration is excellant, the turbo now starts spooling at 2300 and comes on full at 3000. At the moment the car feels too fast on acceleration but that will soon pass then its onto more modes to get that feeling back again.

Do the mode change, its worth it, just for the grin factor.

Modding I do it for the GRIN FACTOR

it still dispells the fact that a turbo is not always rated for what its capable of...

my mods arent expensive, so theres no reason why they couldnt be 'normal' - if you get my drift.

Hey Styler, my pick would be a 34.

It's like Goldilocks said... “not too lagy, not too tight...”

And that bitch knows turbo chargers.
