How were you driving it for the first 5k?. ie were you limiting the revs on gear changes or anything like that.
The dealer when i picked mine up said to just drive it like normal as there is no need to run it in, but i have been trying to keep it mostly under 4000 rpm until the first service.

Maybe i should take his advice if they have told you to go harder.

Default Engine noise

Any other noises to complain about - I have an 07 WRX Hatch that has a noise not too disimilar to my partners old 94 Excel - when it was running low on oil - the Hydraulic lash adjusters become noisy momentarily. Then the noise goes away after hard acceleration, can only be heard with the window down and no radio on and occurs infrequently. I hope this is not something that would indicate low oil pressure etc, there is sufficient oil - just under the full mark - and we have treated her kindly appart from the the odd boot in the B/S - after 1500km. Apart from the dodgy idle - we have suffered the same since day 1, she is run on Vortex and we will try on BP - but obviously not the ultimate due to the the higher RON rating (company car and fuel card..). Any feed back would be great - only other drama is excesive tyre noise - but we have dodgy hard roads down here in Armadale and Byford...

Might sound stupid and correct me if im wrong, but im pretty sure wrx;s are suppose to be run on 98 RON and only for short periods if that on 95 anything below should be a big no no.

Isnt vortex 92 or is it 94-95 now ?

My wrx likes to run on 98 more than 95. I was under the impression 98 is much better for fuel effiency anyway.

I run my MY00 wrx on Ultimate which is 98 octane i think. It does just fine. Vortex i thought was also 98. I was getting 520km out of a tank roughly because i didnt run it bone dry, but thats what it would have done. That was stock but since then i havnt tested the km's after adding a 3" TBE and a Pod Filter.

Vortex is 95, Ultimate is 98. 98ron is always going to be better for your car than 95ron.

If its a work car and you can give it back who cares, put super in it. Pity the poor bugger that buys it after you though
