someone i know, when they tried to quit, had a problem that they werent doing anything with their mouth (or it was something like that) anyway, they tried chewing/sucking on a peppermint lolly everytime they wanted to light up, they said it was hard at first, but it helped, and yes, they still havent smoked, and that was 10yrs ago they gave up.
For the record, i dont smoke, but i have a few friends who. Think its a dirty habit. One of my friends are quite repulsed (sp?) when they see photos or a reflection in which the see themselves smoking |

I've been smoking for 14 years, have managed to quit on a few occasions, the best run being 3 months.
Smoking is disgusting, it leaves a foul taste in the mouth, a foul smell on hair/clothes/skin, not to mention expensive. Having said all that, it's bloody difficult to quit, after 14 years of habit. It's not the random smoking that's hard to let go, it's the times that you habitually light up like clockwork, after a meal, while watching tv, walking to the shops, first thing upon waking up, etc. Quitting is top on my to-do list this year, each time I finish a pack I tell myself not to buy another, that that was it. This lasts about a day before I give in and pop down to the shops (weak, I know). My dad, who had been smoking 2 packs a day for about 30 years, announced one fine day about 8 years ago, that he was quitting. He hasn't smoked a single stick since then. Absolutely amazing. I asked him how he did it. His reply was simple - "Just don't do it. Patches, replacement sweets, blah blah, they're all rubbish. Only you can tell yourself what to do, I told myself to quit. I did." I'm working towards the same. Soldier on Koura! |

I dont know if this has been stated in here yet but read
"The easy way by Allen carr" Most book stores have it and it costs about as much as a large pouch of drum. I didnt even plan on quitting and I quit easliy 3 years ago cold turkey after having smokd for 7 years. The book is repetitve and kind of boring but its not about scarying you like the ads, its mainly psychology. I lent the book to a friend - he quit he lent the book to his friend - he quit I gave the book to my wife to give to someone at her work and he quit and now his friend is reading it. You dont have to believe me but hey, it works and what have you got to lose. Good luck, it doesnt have to be difficult. |
