My attitude is this. I you cannot identify yourself as a police officer
then I will not stop for you and I will tell a court I was frightend for my
safety. NEVER wind down the window.

I tell my GF this as I don't want any sicko acting like a cop to pull her
over and molest her. If it ain't in a marked unit, ignore it. If you
get a fine for "failing to stop" then you can simply indicate that you
did not believe they were a police officer coz they did not clearly identify
themselves and you were fightened for your safety if you did.

If they are in their normal car and cut in front of you and stand on
the brakes to force you to stop the DO NOT get out of the car. Get
on your phone and ring the police and report a dangerous driver.
Yeah I wouldn't be doing that if I was you. Just because it isnt a marked car, doesnt mean you can just keep on cruising. The police have more kinds of cars than you think, not just the ol ford and holden. There are forries, turbo astras, 380's, just to name a couple. As for getting a fine for failing to stop, that won't happen. More or less will be dragged out the window and locked up if you don't get out straight away.

As for not wearing a uniform, of course you can still be done for something.

And yes, you can be stopped and told you'll receive a ticket in the mail. Happens all the time. As for just getting your registration and finding all your details from there, that doesn't always work as quite often the driver is not the registered owner. But then we just chase them up under the ownus that they must tell us who was in the car. Its the law now, if they dont they go to court and there are big fines for that.

I agree with you fobz. I have had a guy in a falcon station wagon, unmarked, no lights, no anything, holding an id card up along side of me signaling to pull over, I kept driving, gave him a wave and let him get on with it, he tail gated, got in front of me and braked, flashed, everything. Fuck them, if they have no lights on, I am NOT pulling over. That simple.

I understand that police officers do have different sorts of cars,
but still i WILL NOT STOP. The bottom line is they could be a psycho.
I am happy to follow someone to a police station, but I am sure
a judge will agree that late at night I would be stupid to stop
unless it is a marked unit because my safety could be in question.

On a side note, have you ever noticed on armoured cars that they
say "I will not stop for you, but will be happy to stop at the nearest
police station". Good enough for them, good enough for me...
the precedence has been set your honour
.

No offence Giddy, but if you are not in a marked unit... I simply
won't pull over for you. If you are in a car with lights/siren then
I will be more than happy to stop and have a chat

Most unmarked cop cars have.. A siren, roof magnet revolving light, deckblasters and rear dash mounted lights these days...

The the two coppers sitting in in give it away..

I reckon a magistrate might side with the coppers..
