The problem is that it's not just the fools who buy one of these things that feel the brunt of it.

A few years back I turned my Lancer in front of a Mitsubishi Challenger which was doing about 70kph. Impact on my front left corner and his front right, so almost exactly what the standard offset-impact test is. The two occupants of the Challenger walked away with a few scrapes and a couple of broken fingers - trapped between her body and the airbag.

I got a Due Care & Attention charge and a small fine. If it had been one of these Landwind things, I'd probably have been facing a judge on two charges of culpable driving, along with a lifetime of guilt for what should have been a survivable accident.

can you explain why people buy 4wds? they are fucking useless on the road - 10x more likely to have a crash but they are on the road.

The thing is alot of people buy with purely their wallet in mind. If they see a brand spanking car with 5/3 yr warranty on it for 10k they'll buy it. Especially if its a nice pink one that you can bung shiny wheels on.
